Abstract

The presence of a pseudoaneurism of the ascending aorta is an infrequent pathology that requires a highly complex surgical resolution. Surgical treatment is urgent since its natural evolution is progressive expansion and rupture, compression and erosion of the adjacent structures, overinfection and embolism. We present the case of a 46 year old male patient who developed a symptomatic giant pseudoaneurism of the ascending aorta infected with methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus, after isolated aortic valve replacement which required surgical treatment.
