Prehospital Care of Cardiac and Respiratory Arrest

Material, method and results
Between july of 1984 and march of 1993, 1591 cardiac and respiratory arrest were assisted by a medical emergency service in the city of Quilmes. The mean arrival time was of 3 minutes. In 1007 cases the reanimation manoeuvers were intented. They were divided into two groups according to the results of the procedure. Group I, in which the resuscitation was successful, was formed by299 patients (29.4%) with an average age of 53 years.
Group II, with the 711 patients who died in spite of the manoeuvers, was 70.6% with an average age of 61 years. Women had a better incidence of recovery (35%)than men (25.3%).
Conclusions
There was a circadian variation in the onset at the cardiopulmonary arrest.
