Informed Consent and Patient data privacy policies
The participant protection policy in research studies of the Argentine Journal of Cardiology is based on the ICMJE standards, stating that the investigation should be explicitly approved by a local, regional or national independent review committee. Names of patients should not be used, nor their initials or hospital identification number, especially in graphic material. No descriptions, photographs or other details contributing to identify the patient can be published, unless this information is essential for the publication, in which case the patient, or the father or tutor, in the case of minors, should express his/her consent in writing.
The necessary process to obtain the signed informed consent required for research in human beings must be clearly stated in the publication.
Privacy of patient data (Habeas Data Law): the policy of personal data anonymization will be conducted according to ICMJE standards.
The safeguard of patient personal data must be clarified considering the National Law 25 326 (Habeas Data) of protection of personal data “whose purpose is the integral protection of personal data recorded in archives, registers, databases or other technical means of data treatment, either public or private destined for reports, to ensure the right to the honor and intimacy of persons".
