Abstract

 Angiosarcomas are rare primary malignant tumors of mesenchymal origin; they entail a poor prognosis, infiltrating the heart and invading surrounding structures. In this paper, we report the case of a 46-year-old male, admitted because of cardiac tamponade. A pericardiocentesis was performed, and hemorraghic fluid was obtained. The transesophageal echocardiogram provided valuable information about the extent and implantation of the tumor in the right atrio-ventricular groove.
